Dr.
Stewart graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in
1972. Upon graduation he entered active duty in the United States Navy as
a dentist for two years. While in the Navy he served rotations in the dental
specialty areas of oral surgery, prosthodontics and endodontics. In addition,
he was given the opportunity to take a weeklong course at Bethesda Naval
Hospital in fixed prosthodontics. After being discharged in 1974, Dr. Stewart
and his family moved to Grand Rapids, Michigan where he established his
dental practice.
In 1988 Dr. Stewart decided to pursue education in the newly emerging field
of cosmetic dentistry. By 1990 Dr. Stewart was awarded accredited status
in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry after his successful slide
presentation of specific cosmetic cases and written reports before a panel
of cosmetic dentistry experts. He was the first dentist in the state of
Michigan to achieve this level of recognized expertise. The following year
he was asked to serve on the five-member Accreditation Review Board. He
has since served two terms as the Accreditation Chairperson, one term on
the Board of Directors of the AACD, and he is currently the Fellowship Chairperson
of the same organization. On behalf of the AACD, Dr. Stewart has taught
advanced accreditation techniques to groups of aspiring accredited dentists.
These seminars have taken place in Chicago, St. Louis and Minneapolis.
Dr. Stewart is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental
Association, the West Michigan District Dental Society, the Academy of General
Dentistry, the Francis Vedder Society of Crown & Bridge Prosthodontics,
the Seattle Study Club, the Grand Valley Dental Forum and the American Academy
of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dr. Stewart has taken more than 1,000 hours of continuing education, including
courses at the Center for Esthetic Excellence in Chicago, the Dawson Center
for Advance Dental Study in St. Petersburg, FL, the Center for Restorative
Excellence in Tacoma, WA, Louisiana State University, and Bethesda Naval
Hospital |
