The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) is a prestigious organization that is at the forefront of advancing cosmetic treatment in the field of dentistry. While promoting the art and science of cosmetic dentistry, the AACD places an emphasis on providing responsible and ethical patient care. Becoming an accredited member in the Academy demonstrates dedication to the highest level of patient care, both clinically and ethically. There are fewer than 500 accredited dentists in the Academy worldwide.
In order to become accredited, doctors must demonstrate a high level of skill and expertise in cosmetic dentistry. First, a comprehensive written exam must be passed. Then, a series of clinical cases must be completed and passed by an examination board. The clinical cases show the dentist’s ability to perform ideal cosmetic treatment in different situations and levels of complexity. Finally, an oral examination consisting of case presentations and treatment planning must be successfully passed.
