Straight Teeth, No Metal

General Dentist in Comstock Park, MIWould you like a more perfect smile, one with straight white teeth? Of course you would! With Invisalign clear braces from Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park, you can straighten your teeth without having to put up with metal wires and brackets.

Clear braces have transformed the way we straighten teeth. Technically known as aligners, they look like an athlete’s mouthguard.  A series of aligners are worn that increase pressure on your teeth to gradually bring them into proper alignment.

The benefits to choosing Invisalign clear braces include:

  • Minimally invasive. Unlike conventional braces, they have no metal and are very comfortable.
  • Removeable. Clear braces are removed at mealtimes and to brush and floss your teeth. For best results, they should be worn 22 hours a day, including overnight.
  • Virtually undetectable. They are clear and subtle – so subtle, that people just a few feet away from you may not realize you’re wearing them.
  • They work! Most important, Invisalign clear braces can bring your teeth into proper alignment.

Clear braces from Invisalign are available at Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park. We have used them to improve the smiles of patients from all over Ada, Belmont, Grand Rapids, Sparta, Walker and Rockford, MI, who also come to us  for family and cosmetic dentistry. There is no reason why you should go through life being unhappy with the way your teeth look. Cosmetic dentistry is a range of dental procedures that can transform your smile. And that, in turn, can improve your self-confidence.

Cosmetic dentistry refers to any of the following:

  • Teeth whitening. Who wouldn’t like a brighter smile? Teeth whitening is a quick and easy way to make the color of your teeth lighter and more pleasing. Professional whitening is more effective than any available over-the-counter product.
  • Porcelain veneers. Thin shells of medical-grade ceramic are custom-made to fit over the front of your teeth. They can mask chips, cracks, worn enamel or gaps between teeth. They’re even good for strengthening teeth.
  • Dental implants. While not cosmetic, strictly speaking, dental implants are lifelike replacements for missing teeth that look and function like natural teeth.
  • Clear braces. Virtually invisible, clear braces can improve your bite and straighten crooked teeth. People love them because they come out at mealtime and when you brush and floss.

Any one of these procedures can improve your smile!  Cosmetic dentistry from Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park can give a big boost to your self-esteem. Are Dental Implants For Real?

When an adult tooth is lost, it won’t grow back. But artificial teeth supported by dental implants from Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park are a lifelike replacement option!

Dental implants are titanium posts that are placed in your jaw where they fuse with the bone. They can support artificial teeth that look and function like the real thing. One implant can support one artificial tooth, while several can support a full dental arch.

BENEFITS

Supporting lifelike replacement teeth are one of the biggest benefits of dental implants. Your ability to bite and chew is virtually normal. And that’s to say nothing of your restored smile!

But implants do even more. When a tooth is lost the bone around it begins to deteriorate. In time that results in a sunken appearance in the face. Dental implants help to prevent that loss of bone mass.

Having an implant inserted into your jaw bone is, strictly speaking, a surgical procedure. Most patients breeze through it and are able to resume their usual activities by the next day. Post-procedure discomfort is usually mild and can be controlled with over-the-counter pain medication.

Dental implants may sound too good to be true, but at Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park they are for real! Patients from Ada, Belmont, Comstock Park, Grand Rapids, Sparta, Walker and Rockford, MI also come to our office for Invisalign clear braces, and complete cosmetic and family dentistry. Prevent Tooth Decay!

We tend to associate cavities with children, but the truth is that you can get a cavity at any age. You can minimize the risk, and even prevent cavities, with daily brushing and regular checkups at Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park.

Most people have at least one cavity by the time they reach adulthood. Cavities means the plaque on your teeth has converted to acid from food debris. These acids eat through the tooth enamel and create a hole, or cavity. We treat cavities by cleaning out the surrounding tooth area and filling it.

PROPER BRUSHING

Most of us have been brushing our teeth since we were kids, and know what we’re doing. But there is always room to improve, so here are a few basics about the right way to clean your teeth.

  • Floss. Begin by flossing. String floss is preferred over one of those little floss picks. Work a strand between each tooth and its neighbor to remove any food debris.
  • Brush. Use a soft-bristle toothbrush and plenty of toothpaste. Then brush your teeth in a slow circular motion. Be sure you get along the gumline and all surfaces of the tooth: inside, outside, and chewing surfaces. Brush for at least two minutes!

Some people prefer to floss after brushing. This is one of those six of one, half a dozen of the other situations. Just be sure to floss!

Daily brushing, flossing and regular checkups at Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park are the best ways to prevent tooth decay. People from Ada, Belmont, Comstock Park, Grand Rapids, Sparta, Walker and Rockford, MI come to our practice for complete family dentistry. They improve their smiles with  our cosmetic dentistry and Invisalign clear braces. Call for an appointment today!

Let’s Make a Plan

If you’re like most of us, you’d like to have the best smile possible. At Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park we want to help! Cosmetic dentistry can make a huge difference, but a great smile comes down to exploring your options and making a plan.

How can cosmetic dentistry help? Cosmetic dentistry is all about using sound dental techniques to make positive changes to your teeth and smile. The most popular techniques include:

  • Teeth whitening. Sure, there are plenty of whitening products available at any grocery store. None of them can match the power of professional whitening.
  • Porcelain veneers. Veneers are thin shells of medical-grade ceramic that we attach to the fronts of your teeth. They’ll cover chips, cracks, gaps, and other imperfections. The difference is startling!
  • Dental Implants. Implants are the ultimate improvement and should be on the plan of anyone missing one or more teeth. One or more titanium posts inserted in your jaw can support a single replacement tooth, a dental bridge, and even dentures.

One of the best things you can do for your smile is to brush and floss your teeth twice a day! Excellent homecare will help keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy and it will shine through every time you smile.

And don’t forget regular checkups at Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park! That is a sure-fire way to maintain excellent dental health. People from Ada, Belmont, Grand Rapids, Sparta, Walker and Rockford, MI come to us for cosmetic and family dentistry, Invisalign clear braces, and much more. Call us today!

A Noteworthy Dental Experience

At Stewart & Hull Aesthetic and General Dentistry in Comstock Park, we make each appointment a noteworthy experience with our attention to detail, and committment to each patient’s dental health.

Good dental health means having healthy teeth and gums. Maintaining it is something that you have to work at every day. It can be a real balancing act: using the right oral care products, your personal oral care habits, and regular checkups.

Your dental health strategy should include:

  • Daily brushing and flossing. You should brush and floss twice a day. Just before bedtime is especially important, because it cleans out the germs and plaque that build up during the course of the day.
  • Proper brushing. It’s important not only to brush, but to brush properly. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush in a gentle, circular motion along the gum line. Take your time; a minimum of two minutes is recommended. Don’t forget to brush your tongue!
  • Using fluoridated toothpaste. There is a myriad of choices when it comes to toothpaste. Whether you prefer mint flavored or bubble gum, fluoride is the most important consideration. It is your best defense against cavities.
  • Limiting sugary and acidic foods. Acidic fruits, teas, and coffee contributes to enamel erosion. Sugar converts into acid when it’s in your mouth. You don’t have to avoid these foods entirely, but choose carefully and minimize.
  • Seeing us twice a year. You saw this one coming, right? Your daily dental health care habits are essential, but so is the attention and care of a dentist. A professional teeth cleaning alone is worth the trip, but we can also identify issues before they become serious, and treat them.

At Stewart & Hull Aesthetic and General Dentistry in Comstock Park we want every checkup to be a noteworthy experience, and for all our patients to enjoy excellent dental health. People from Ada, Belmont, Grand Rapids, Sparta, Walker and Rockford, MI come to us for family dentistry, clear braces from Invisalign, and much more. Schedule your next checkup today!

Dental Questions? We Have Answers

At Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park, we strive for excellence in dentistry every day. Providing the best possible dental care goes beyond cleanings and exams. We like patients who ask a lot of questions, because that tells us they are taking a strong interest in their dental health.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

One of the questions we’re often asked is whether it’s really necessary to have regular cleanings and checkups. Our short answer is, yes! But a better answer would include the time-honored truth that prevention is the best medicine.

Every appointment includes a thorough cleaning by a hygienist and a thorough exam by the dentist. Dr. Stewart and Dr. Hull will examine your teeth and gums, looking for any dental concerns or signs of gum disease/oral cancer.

MORE QUESTIONS

Patients often wonder how long a filling will last. Some people think they’ll last a lifetime, but unfortunately that is not usually the case. Fillings can break down or become loose over time. If that happens, decay can get into the area around it and cause problems. You can extend the life of any restoration with good oral hygiene at home. If you have any questions about what that means, don’t hesitate to ask.

What kind of toothbrush is best? This is among the most-asked questions for any dentist. Manual and electric toothbrushes, used properly, both do an excellent job. We recommend soft bristles, with mixed bristle heights and angles. They do a better job getting between the teeth. To really get between the teeth, we recommend daily flossing. You can use string floss or a water pik.

AND MORE!

When it comes to toothpaste, we recommend one that has the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance. That means it contains fluoride, which strengthens and protects your teeth.

These are just some of the common questions we get from our patients at Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park. Have we missed anything you’ve wondered about? Find out why patients from Ada, Belmont, Grand Rapids, Sparta, Walker and Rockford, MI come to our office for general, cosmetic and Invisalign orthodontic dentistry. Call to schedule your next checkup with us today, and remember your dental health questions!

Correcting Flaws With Cosmetic Dentistry

Having a beautiful smile is something many people desire. If your smile makes you feel self conscious, Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park can help. An improved smile goes a long way to boosting your self-esteem and self-confidence.

Before we continue, though, we must point out a misconception. A lot of people think that cosmetic dentistry is all about appearance. Yes, it will make your smile look a lot better, but your teeth will be healthier too!

Available procedures include:

  • Porcelain veneers. Thin shells of medical-grade ceramic are attached to the fronts of your teeth. They can cover up chips, cracks, and gaps between teeth. They are also good for covering damaged tooth enamel.
  • Teeth whitening. Years of consuming tea and coffee and other tooth-staining foods and drinks really take a toll on your smile. You’ll find a lot of over-the-counter whitening products at the store, but none can match the power of professional-strength whitening.
  • Dental implants. One of the true marvels of modern dentistry, dental implants are titanium posts inserted into your jaw. One can support an artificial tooth, and several can support a full dental arch. Because the implant fuses with the bone, your biting and chewing power is restored while maintaining bone levels.

Correcting problem teeth can reduce the risk of tooth decay, gum disease, and other issues. Plus you’ll have a smile that you’ll love! At Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park, the smiles of our patients are important. They come to us from Ada, Belmont, Grand Rapids, Sparta, Walker and Rockford, MI for family and cosmetic dentistry, and Invisalign clear braces. Call to schedule an appointment with us today!

Between-Meal Cleaning

At Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park we always remind our patients to brush their teeth after every meal. Happily, most of our patients take that advice to heart.

But what are you supposed to do in the middle of the day? You’re out and about, and your usual stuff – that favorite toothbrush and paste, the container of dental floss – is at home in the bathroom.

What’s the best way to keep your teeth clean between meals?

One of the best things you can do is rinse your mouth with water after you eat. It’s no substitute for brushing and flossing, of course, but will give your whole mouth a quick cleansing.

A quick brushing is good, too. One trick is what we call dry brushing. That means brushing your teeth without toothpaste. Yes, it sounds a bit strange – but it’s effective, especially if you can use a little water, too. It isn’t the way you would brush at home, of course, but it’s going to clean the surfaces of your teeth – and that’s half the battle.

The other half of the battle is the stuff that gets between your teeth. A good solution here is using floss picks. In the short-term they’re a good stand-in for regular dental floss, and because they have a little handle, you can do it one-handed and without the aid of a mirror. (Just be sure you use regular floss later on, before bed.)

Another effective trick is chewing sugarless gum. It only takes about five minutes of chewing to get the benefits. The gum will remove a lot of the surface debris from your teeth. It also gets your saliva going, which in turn promotes re-mineralization, the process of replacing minerals in your teeth.

At Stewart & Hull Aesthetic & General Dentistry in Comstock Park we want all of our patients to take care of their teeth during the day. People from Ada, Belmont, Grand Rapids, Sparta, Walker and Rockford, MI schedule appointments for cosmeticfamily and restorative dentistry. Call for your next checkup with us today!
